What is Grace?

(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ ”) Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. John 1:15-18

There can either be two extremes, think we don’t deserve God’s grace or we abuse his grace because we are saved by it Both are so wrong that we need to know God, he is just, he is fair, he does what is best for us. Next time you think the phase, well God’s grace has saved me, really reflect on that. What do you need saving from? How are you aware of God’s grace? Is this a continues action that you’re choosing to not change? Truly think about why you’re thankful for God’s grace.

On the other side, you are deserving of God’s grace. There is no wrong that you have done that doesn’t surprise God. God wants to save you, he wants to hold you, he wants to rescue you. Allow God to work in your life and seek him when the things of this world seem so great. God has conquered this world. He has conquered all that you’re dealing with.

Satan would love for us to stop praying and seeking God. We could read the Bible all we want but if we lose our relationship with God then it can be another book we read. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 we’re told, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) Pray continually! God will show you his grace. You are deserving and you are saved by God. Be aware if you’re doing your will or God’s will.
